BIOGRAPHY
Scott Nychay inherited the passion for
art from his father who was a gifted
painter. The Chicago native developed
that raw talent at Drake University and
Columbia College where he studied
design and journalism.
After graduating, Nychay landed the
rare job of political cartoonist. Quickly,
his work was picked up by the
Sun-Times Features Syndicate. Shortly
there after, he was selected to study
newspaper illustration at the preeminent
school for journalists; the Poynter Institute
for Media Studies.
In 2006, Nychay became the only
cartoonist nominated for the prestigous
John Fischetti Award while working for
a publication with fewer than 40,000
readers. Later that year, he received
first in the nation from the Associated
Press Sports Editors for his graphic
work. The visual journalist also is
author of two books.
Today, the Chicagoan has created his own
studio where he is working with companies
and organizations that have a positive impact
on the lives of others.
